We All Start Somewhere
A healthy lifestyle begins with what we put in our body. Since I have been on this journey I have gone from a size 1X 14-16 down to a Large 12 – 14 with some dietary changes. Many of family members and friends who have witnessed the change ask, “what do you eat?” When I go shopping for groceries my goal is to buy items that are gluten-free, dairy-free, and low or no sugar. That is no easy feat so I have to shop at multiple stores. Sometimes I spend over an hour in a supermarket looking at labels and reading ingredients. I know I am not the only one who is searching for the same foods this is why I created this beginner guide. I want to share my finds and I hope that you share some of yours as well. This list is not perfect, but it is a good start. You can find most of these products at Jet.com, Whole Foods Market, Fairway Market, and Stop and Shop. For Trader Joe’s products, you will have to find a store near you. You can find the guide below and don’t forget to share with anyone who is ready to go on the journey to healthy.
- Always toast your gluten-free bread. It tastes much better.
- Always buy unsweetened milk and yogurt products. By adding your own sweetener you control how much sugar you consume.
- For snacks and sweets always check the sugar content. Try to buy items with 8 grams of sugar or less.
